Enterprise field service software

Avolv vs ServiceTitan

ServiceTitan is the enterprise leader for large HVAC, plumbing, and electrical shops. It is also expensive, contract-locked, and openly not built for small teams. Their own words: not optimized for companies with three or fewer techs. Here's when Avolv makes sense instead.

ServiceTitan is best for

You run 20+ technicians in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical, you have a real marketing budget ($10K+/month), and you need enterprise reporting. ServiceTitan is built for you.

Avolv is best for

You're any size below that, or you're recurring-route-based (pool, cleaning, lawn, pest, pressure washing), or you don't want to sign a 12-month contract to find out what the software costs.

What it looks like at your size

Real math, not vendor math.

Your operation On ServiceTitan On Avolv
5 techs ServiceTitan Essentials: ~$1,500-$2,000/month + $10K-$15K implementation + 12-month contract Avolv: quoted per location, no contract, no six-figure implementation
10 techs ServiceTitan Essentials: ~$3,000-$4,000/month + $15K-$25K implementation = $51K-$63K year one Avolv: same operation on Avolv costs a fraction, no contract
20+ techs ServiceTitan is designed for you. Cost: $50K-$100K+/year. Might be worth it. Avolv is designed for you too, without the six-figure lock-in

What each one is actually good at

No pretending. What we'd say about them if we didn't sell against them.

What ServiceTitan does well

  • Enterprise-grade for large HVAC, plumbing, and electrical operations.
  • Deep marketing automation and call-tracking features.
  • Advanced reporting and business intelligence.
  • Fits 20+ tech operations with big marketing budgets.
  • Publicly traded. Not going anywhere.

Where Avolv wins

  • Published pricing. See it before a sales call, not after.
  • Month-to-month, no 12-month contract lock-in.
  • Setup fee scoped and quoted in the first call, not a six-figure surprise.
  • Built for route-based recurring service (pool, cleaning, lawn, pest, pressure washing). Not built around a CSR team booking one-off calls.
  • You get your data on cancellation. Some ServiceTitan users report needing lawyers to export their own records.
  • You get the founder on the phone. Not a sales team.

Which one should you pick?

The honest read.

Pick ServiceTitan when

You run 20+ technicians in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical, you have a real marketing budget ($10K+/month), and you need enterprise reporting. ServiceTitan is built for you.

Pick Avolv when

You're any size below that, or you're recurring-route-based (pool, cleaning, lawn, pest, pressure washing), or you don't want to sign a 12-month contract to find out what the software costs.

Migration story

Avolv migrations from ServiceTitan are less common (customers who spent $15K on implementation don't leave lightly), but when they do happen, it's because the recurring-route economics never made sense on an enterprise CSR-first tool. Data export requires more work when the platform is closed, but it's doable.

Questions we get about this comparison

Is ServiceTitan bad software?

No. It's genuinely enterprise-grade and it fits large operations doing complex dispatch. The problem is fit. ServiceTitan has publicly said the platform is not optimized for companies with three or fewer technicians. It's expensive, it's contract-locked, and it's built for CSR-driven dispatch of one-off calls (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) rather than route-based recurring service. If you're running pool routes or lawn routes, it's the wrong tool at any price.

Can Avolv migrate my ServiceTitan data?

Migrating out of ServiceTitan is harder than migrating from most tools because their export process is not friendly. Some users report needing legal help to retrieve their own data. It's still doable. Talk to me first before signing a ServiceTitan cancellation, because timing matters.

Does Avolv have ServiceTitan's marketing features?

Avolv has marketing campaigns, follow-up sequences, review generation on autopilot, and lead pipeline with AI classification. Not identical to ServiceTitan's full marketing suite, but adequate for most operations that don't have a dedicated marketing team.

Why don't you publish enterprise pricing?

We do. Pricing is public. See the pricing page. What we don't do is a $50K implementation, so there's no hidden number.

What if I'm 20+ techs and I actually want enterprise features?

Then ServiceTitan might genuinely be a better fit. I'll tell you that directly on the call. My job is to help you pick the right software, not to sell you Avolv when it isn't.

Fifteen minutes and I'll tell you honestly which one fits.

If ServiceTitan is a better fit for your business, I'll say so. My job is helping you pick the right tool.
